HIllsborough County offices closed for Memorial Day

Tampa, Florida--If you need to do business with Hillsborough County keep in mind all county offices in downtown will be closed Monday May 27th  in honor of Memorial Day.

In addition to the County Offices being closed, all the Constitutional Offices- including the Property Appraiser, Supervisor of Elections, Tax Collector and the Clerk of Courts Offices- will be closed as well.

 

Memorial Day blood drives

Tampa, Florida -- Be a hero this Memorial Day Weekend- donate blood. 

Those who donate blood at one of the Florida Blood Service drives will also receive a special gift such as:

  • Two free movie tickets

  • Golden Corral lunch buffet ticket

Third-grade FCAT math and reading scores static

Tallahassee, Florida - This year's FCAT results are out for reading, math and writing and they show improvements in writing and little change in math and reading.

In third grade reading, 57 percent of students scored a three or higher on a five-point scale and are considered proficient readers. That's up one percent from last year.

AAA offers "Tow To Go" service Memorial Day weekend

Tampa Bay, Florida-- It's hard to imagine why one would risk getting behind the wheel while intoxicated, but AAA's "To to Go" program makes it that much harder. 

According to AAA's website, "To to Go" offers intoxicated drivers a free, confidential ride to a safe place within a 10 mile radius, along with a free tow for their car.

Teen accused of stealing identities to collect debit cards

Tampa, Florida -- An Armwood High School student is accused of stealing the identities of dozens of people in order to collect debit cards in their names.

18-year-old Devonte Jackson has been charged with 41 counts of Fraudulent Use of Personal Information, one count for each alleged victim, after Hillsborough County detectives say they found a bag of debit cards that belonged to Jackson.
